while visiting quito i celebrated my 30th b-day! we had such a blast that day, i don't think i have laughed so hard and for so long. mateo enjoyed watching me cry from laughing so hard! that morning we packed the car with snacks and water and went to otavalo (i thought of you ALL day stefanie, i carried you in my heart!). first we stopped in San Pablo for lunch, then we went on to otavalo for the fair and got some good bargains! i couldn't believe how rusty i've gotten at this whole bargaining thing. i guess 10 years of no practice can be tough on anyone! ryan wasn't too thrilled with me bargaining anyway, he is used to paying for what you are asked to pay. after the fair we went on to san antonio where you can find amazing carvings in wood and then on to ibarra for the famous ice cream made there (same method as in an ice cream machine, except made by hand and in a bronce bowl~picture below)
