well, we made it there and back safely! the best thing though was that abby did so great adjusting to all the new people she met and her new surroundings. she slept great, and had a blast playing with her cousins.
right before we left abby got a portable dvd player from her g-pa for x-mas. so we took it along for the plane ride. it kept her occupied and happy for the 1h45min plane ride and on the way to ft. collins from the airport. once we got there she got to meet gracie (the dog). abby was quite scared of her at first but quickly grew to love playing with her (as you can see from the video below). later that afternoon she got to meet anna and david (nephew and niece) once they got home from school. couple of days later my two older nephews (andrew and michael)came home from college so she got to meet them too....and i got to take a little break from chasing her around since now i had four people fighting over who got to hold her hand, carry her, put her in her car seat and take her out, chase her up and down the stairs, play with blocks, etc. i loved every minute of it :) it was so good to see all of you and thank you so much for playing with abby, she loved every minute of it! she still asks for all of you :)
abby also got to "meet" her abuelita. i say meet because she doesn't remember my mom from a year ago. during the time abby and i were in colorado visiting my mom was asked to house sit for her friend sonia. sonia said abby and i were welcome to stay there too while her and her husband were gone for the holidays. so the three of us had a whole house to ourselves. it was especially for nice for naps and bedtime.
x-mas day we all spent it at my brother's. in the morning i took abby in her jammies so that we could get there kind of early. she opened her presents and then we all got dressed up to go to a nursing home near their house. when i lived with them we used to do that every year. it was nice to go again and see some familiar faces. we talked to the folks there, sang x-mas carols and handed out presents. abby stole some people's hearts there with her pretty x-mas dress her nana sent her and her big brown eyes :)then we all came back home and had a really yummy lunch jackie (my brother's wife) prepared.
on the 26th we were all invited to the christie's house (we used to always get together with them either at my brother's house or at theirs). i got to see almost all the kids i used to carpool for together...kind of weird! they all started to remember how i used to threaten to have them walk home if they kept fighting in the back :) and of course they are all way taller than me now and not kids anymore. speaking of carpooling my brother let me use the same car i used to carpool with...so many memories in that car :) i kept looking back to see if everyone was buckled in...all i saw was abby sitting in her car seat. anyway, back to the christie's, as always we had a great time with all of you. thanks claudia for the fantastic food, it was so good to see you all again! (and welcome to my blog, hope you like it. you have quite a bit to catch up with!)
we also got to visit with g-ma marion. she had us over for some yummy soup and sandwich lunch on a snowy day...perfect! (marion: abby loves the penguin and gingerbread man pins :) she even has a special place where she likes to keep them so they don't get lost, and thank you so much for the scarf, it is nice and warm!)
well, i just realized this is getting quite long and i still haven't posted any pictures. i guess i will do that tomorrow.
wishing you all a blessed 2008! good night...
